Omnicom production hub joins forces with leading procurement specialists

Paperhat And Gutenberg

14 October 2010

Newly launched production hub, Gutenberg Networks UK, and leading print procurement consultancy Paperhat announce they are to unite in a joint venture partnership.

Paperhat has been one of the leading independent procurement service specialists in the European print market for the last fifteen years. It has a supplier network of over 650 print production companies in twenty three different countries.

The new team of 134 staff will work across offices in both Butler's Wharf, near Tower Bridge, and Paddington. Led by both Tim Peppiatt, CEO at Paperhat and Jon Goulding, CEO at Gutenberg Networks, the venture will build the breadth and depth of capabilities that each company offers clients, both in the UK and internationally.

Gutenberg Networks clients will have greater access to a broader and deeper capability in the print management space. Meanwhile, Paperhat clients will benefit from a broader range of production channel expertise in pre-press, digital production and, where appropriate, TV production.

The 77-strong combined client list includes Philips, Unilever, Orange, AEG, Milwaukee and Ryobi, with 19 global clients. These will each gain from a broader range of managed production services through a single contact point and relationship and a supplier network spanning over 23 countries. Through the joint venture they will be able to access the consolidated buying power of a combined entity as well as the buying power of the Gutenberg global production network.

Jon Goulding, CEO of Gutenberg Networks UK, commented: "We offer a one-stop shop for cross-channel marketing production. Combining forces with Paperhat enables us to offer a significant understanding of the global market. Our combined knowledge, experience and reach means we can continue to drive cost reductions for clients. This is an exciting development for both companies, and the industry as a whole, as we continue drive down the production costs."

Tim Peppiatt, CEO at Paperhat, added: "In this new de-coupled world, clients are demanding more, and nobody out there is able to offer more on a global scale than Gutenberg and Paperhat combined, both in terms of service offering and sheer economic and geographic scale."
